The Beverage Menu

Canopy Central
Cafe Menu

The Canopy Central café beverage menu has been designed to feel robust and complete, while remaining easily-executable. Coffee-and espresso-based drinks form a key component of the beverage offering and are inspired by the characteristics of an active and bustling neighborhood café. This section will offer an introduction into the various beverage classifications and offer guidance, descriptions, and processes necessary to execute great drinks time after time.

Espresso

Each roaster will have its own parameters for their espresso, but as a broad definition: Grind 17–21 g. of coffee in the portafilter basket. Distribute and tamp the grounds. The shot should take 23–28 seconds and yield 1.75–2 oz.

Espresso Macchiato

Macchiato in Italian means marked or stained, reffering to a traditional Italian espresso beverage consisting of a single or double espresso shot that is marked with steamed milk. This should be served in a demitasse or small paper to-go cup.

Latte Macchiato

A cup of steamed milk that has been marked with espresso; an upside down latte. One notable example is the caramel macchiato (steamed milk with espresso and caramel). The latte macchiato should give the customer a layered drink that is stronger at the beginning and becomes lighter toward the bottom. In contrast, a traditional latte sees the espresso and milk thoroughly blended.
